Her beloved Dog is very ill and needs our prayers. Barb is beside herself and cannot even post. She is spending time with the little doggie and needs
strength. His name is Max and he is hardly eating or drinking.

Max has crossed over, yesterday morning at 10:30 we made the decision to help him end his suffering. We took him to the vets, and she gave him a shot and
he's gone, he's at peace now. I stayed with him until the very end holding his head cradled in my arms, as he took his last breath. He knew how
much we love him, he's at peace now.
He will forever have a place in my heart.
The last few days were so very hard. Max had great difficulty standing up and he would stay in one position laying down for whole days at a time, and he just
didn't have any strength left at all to move, except to pick his head up. He went two days without getting up so he didn't go out from Thursday
night until Saturday night. Yesterday morning he managed, with great difficulty, to walk outside and pee and poop, before he collapsed. My husband and I
sat outside with him for a long time letting him enjoy sitting in the meadow, until it started raining. Then we decided to carry Max in blankets to the back
lawn, then we called the vets. We carried Max to the car....and took him to be put to sleep. We'd talked about it for days, not wanting to see him
suffer so much, not even being able to walk around the house or enjoy life hardly at all any more, he slept a lot. It was an agonizing heartbreaking
decision to finally take him to the vets, and we tried to do what we believed in our hearts was the best thing for our boy, so that he wouldn't suffer
any more than he already had. His will to live was so strong but his body just couldn't cooperate, he was exhausted.
It's the most heartwrenching thing to go through, wanting to let him live as long as he wanted to, but also not wanting him to suffer like he was at the
end.
I spent much time just being near him, inside and outside, just loving him up, in these last days.
Thank you all for your loving thoughts and prayers you were sending to Max and all of us.
Love,
Barb

Thank you Patty for sharing this with us. It is so hard when a pet we love is suffering. I feel she did the best thing for Max. If you know there is nothing
you can do to help them get better and you can help end there suffering then I feel it is the best thing to to. To many times being a nurse I watched
family's hanging on to there 90 year old mother and doing everything possible to keep her here and I knew in my heart it was not really the best choice
for mama they were thinking about but in reality they were having problems letting go. Not that I am suggesting doing something to end a humans life but there
comes a time to let go , do what you can to make the person comfortable and let them pass as peacefully as possible. I have made it very clear to my son, no
respirators etc etc. If I can't have a good life let me go. OK sorry I got carried away here.

Patty, thank you for letting us know. I had a hard time reading it..tear welled up in my eyes. It remined me of my Oso that went through about the same thing
in March. It's taken me this long not to cry everyday for her.
It is a hard thing to let go. |
